What to expect

As soon as your child can crawl they can start their journey in gymnastics. These sessions focus on developing essential motor skills and balance while ensuring that every moment is filled with fun. Children will enjoy a lively warm-up with songs and parachutes aimed to develop their concentration and listening skills. Followed by a challenging circuit of activities aimed to help educate parents on the basic skills your little ones can start to learn like rolling, jumping and balancing. We’ll wrap up with bubbles and stickers to create unforgettable memories! These parent assisted sessions are currently run on Friday mornings at St.Mary's Centre and Saturday mornings at NLCS

To help promote independence children take part in the class without parental help. This also helps encourage full concentration whilst also helping to develop their social skills with their peers. The children will begin to learn gymnastic skills on all of the apparatus; the beam, airtrack, vault and floor with a strong focus on developing better body awareness, confidence and coordination. Our aim with this age group is to master the fundamental skills like forward rolls, cartwheels and handstands up the wall.

In this class children will continue to learn fundamental gymnastics skills. They begin to learn about flexibility which is essential to learning more complex skills! For example they will be taught how to perform a bridge which will allow them to safely learn to back bend and kick-over. Their strength is also challenged as they take part in basic conditioning exercises like press ups and dish and arch holds, so they can confidently perform skills like handstands. On the apparatus they will now progress to being more independent in performing the skills solo, like straddle onto the vault and walking along the balance beams. These more advanced skills will be spotted by the coaches to ensure safety is paramount.

Children can start gymnastics at any age and our oldest age group is no exception. It's a great way of keeping fit whilst having fun and making new friends. In this class our already experienced gymnasts will continue to be challenged to ensure they reach their full potential, while we take into account anyone who is new to the sport. We split the class into beginner and intermediate groups to ensure all children's abilities are catered for. Our coaches assess and decide which group your child is best suited to join.

This class is for gymnasts who have been with North London Gymnastics for a while, are progressing very well and are up for a challenge. Any new children joining us will be asked to participate in a trial before being accepted into the Advanced Class. We only have one Advanced Class which is currently on a Saturday at 3.30pm at North London Collegiate School.

Badges & Competitions

Our badges have been carefully designed by our club directors who have over 30 years of gymnastics experience between them. They cover all the basic fundamentals of gymnastics and aim to help the gymnasts work on the important elements to help progress their development further. Badges are awarded in the summer and winter terms.

In the spring term we hold a fun in-house competition for all the children above 4 years old, medals and ribbons are awarded to all students.

We invite parents into the class for a watching week towards the end of each term, to take photos and observe your child's development.
